Plain version first: we do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we never see your card number — payments go through Apple or Google.
1. Who we are
Books in Light is operated by SteadyEase LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Books in Light mobile app and website, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.
3. Payments
Subscriptions are billed and managed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We receive only a confirmation that your subscription is active. We never receive or store your card number, billing address, or full payment details.
4. Service providers
- Supabase — database and authentication hosting.
- RevenueCat — subscription status and entitlement management.
- Apple / Google — payment processing and app distribution.
Each provider is contractually limited to processing data on our instructions.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask us to:
- give you a copy of the data tied to your account;
- correct anything inaccurate;
- delete your account and associated data;
- stop processing based on consent.
If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland you have GDPR rights; if you are a California resident you have CCPA/CPRA rights, including the right not to have personal information sold or shared — which we do not do. To make a request, email support@booksinlight.com. You can also delete your account from inside the app under Profile → Delete account.
6. Children
Books in Light is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Retention & security
We keep account data while your account is open. After you delete your account we remove it within 30 days, except where we must keep minimal records for tax or legal reasons. Data is transmitted over HTTPS and access to the database is restricted by row-level security policies.
8. Changes
If we make a material change we will notify you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect.
1. The service
Books in Light publishes original commentary and guided reading plans about books. Our insights are our own analysis. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by the authors or publishers of the books we discuss. Book titles and author names are used only to identify the works being discussed.
2. Your licence
Your subscription gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to read and listen to our content inside the app. You may not copy, redistribute, publicly display, resell, or build a competing product from our text or audio.
3. Subscription terms
- Plans: an annual plan and a monthly plan. Prices are shown in the app before you confirm.
- Free trial: if offered, you will not be charged until the trial ends. We show the exact charge date before you start.
- Automatic renewal: subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Managing or cancelling: in your Apple ID account settings or Google Play subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds: handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
4. Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity under your account. You may delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete account.
5. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to scrape, reverse engineer, or systematically download our content, or use the service in any way that breaks the law.
6. Disclaimer & liability
The service is provided "as is". Our commentary is opinion and interpretation; it is not professional, legal, medical, financial, or pastoral advice. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
7. Changes and termination
We may update these terms or change the service. If we stop the service, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid period where required by law.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA.
